The textbook covers the main processes caused by materials cutting: the kinematics of machining processes the geometric parameters of tool blades and the cutting layer, chip formation, contact phenomena on the tool surfaces, thermal processes, tool wearing, the formation of the processed surface of a given quality. Machinability of materials and ways to improve it are taken into consideration. The features of ultrafast processing of materials and nano-cutting processes are considered.
The textbook is intended for university students, fields of study «Engineering Mechanics» and «Mechanical Engineering», as well as specialists, masters, post-graduate students of engineering specialties, and engineers.
